Brady vs. Comfort

On Thursday, Nov. 1st, the 8th Grade Brady Bulldogs took on the Bobcats from Comfort. The Dogs forced a turnover on downs.  The Dogs were the first to score with a 28-yard TD from Sergio Rodriguez, with JD Ibarra scoring on the 2-point conversion.  The Bulldogs and Bobcats traded scores.  The Dogs second score came from Ibarra on a tough run from 7 yards out making the score 14 – 8.  Once again, the Dogs and Cats traded scores, making the score 14 – 14.  The Bulldogs got a drive together facing a 3rd and long.  Hayden Baronet connected with Rodriguez with a big 30-yard gain; setting up Mason Harris for the TD and extending the Bulldogs lead to 20 – 14. The Bobcats were starting to get a drive together when Keagan Farris came up with a big interception to end the Bobcat drive. The Bulldogs led 20 – 14 at the half. Comfort got the ball after the half, but PJ Stidom came up with a big hit to jar the ball loose and Asher Lebow recovered the fumble. The Bulldogs took advantage of the turnover with big runs from Isaiah Tarr and Ibarra. Kaden Bernal dropped back and threw a 25-yard TD pass to Joaquin Flores and Ibarra added 2 points extending the lead to 28 – 14. The Bobcats answered making the score 28 – 22. The Bulldogs got back to work offensively putting together a drive that ended with Baronet punching it in from 4 yards out and adding the 2-point conversion as well. Making the score 36 – 22, the Bobcats scored one last time cutting the lead to 36 – 30. The Bulldogs answered back with a two-play drive capped by a 40-yard TD by Ibarra making the score 42 – 30. After a tough drive, the Bulldogs made a statement with a 4- yard TD run by Rodriquez and Ibarra adding the final 2 points of the game.

The 8th Grade Bulldogs have improved greatly throughout the season and are currently 3—1 in district.  A strong finish to the season is anticipated this Thursday in Sonora.
